Rev Edward Thomas Scott Reid
Edward Thomas Scott Reid was born in Springburn, Glasgow on the 12th December 1871. He married Ethel Shaw nee MacPherson on the 4th October 1899, they had 5 children Henry, Eric, Colin, Ann and Nora.
Edward was Educated at Fettes College. He graduated from Glasgow University with a Master of Arts and later with a Doctor of Divinity. He was ordained a Priest in 1899.
After acting as Curate at Old St.Paul’s and St.Mary’s Cathedral Edinburgh he was appointed Rector of St.Cuthbert’s Hawick in 1903, a post which he held until 1910 when he moved to Glasgow as Rector of St.Bride’s Hyndland Road. As a result of his labours the church had to be enlarged.

During the war Dr Reid rendered valuable service to the Western Infirmary as honorary Chaplain, he was also appointed by the Archbishop of Belgrade to the spiritual oversight of Serbians in Glasgow. In 1920 he was appointed Dean of the Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway. In 1921 he was elected as Bishop of Glasgow and Galloway.

Ten years later he was translated to the Bishopric of the Diocese of St.Andrews, Dunkeld and Dunblane where he made his mark as a man of outstanding ability. During his place of residency at Castlebrae House Edward would frequent St.Kessogs church
Edward took ill at Castlebrae House and was transferred to St. Margaret’s Hospital where he had surgery on the 24th July. He passed away 3 days later. His funeral was held at St. Kessogs Church, Auchterarder, he was buried in the Church Cemetery.
