On Saturday 22 February 2020 the Provincial Grand Lodge of Glasgow held a Charity Burns Supper in the Marriot Hotel, Argyle Street, Glasgow.

Burns Crowd

The evening began with a warm welcome being extended to over 300 guests by the Provincial Grand Master, Brother Andrew Mushet. He then handed over proceedings to Substitute Provincial Grand Master, Brother Robert Shaw, who was the organiser of the event and Chairman for the evening.

The Haggis was then piped in by Provincial Grand Piper, Brother Iain Kennedy and expertly addressed by Brother Alan Beck. The assembled Brethren and Guests then enjoyed a delicious meal.

The entertainment continued after dinner with some traditional Burns music from Brothers Alan Beck and Gordon Cree whose performance had the assembled guests on their feet at its conclusion.

The main event of the night came next and was a fantastic, entertaining and exceptionally well delivered Immortal Memory of Robert Burns from Brother John Shirkie. This was followed by a Piper's Lament from Provincial Grand Piper.

Brother Gordon Mather also entertained the crowd with renditions of some of the works of Robert Burns which involved a giant hat and even a horse's head mask!
