Japan has at last surrendered
A hard won victory
From the fetid heat of jungles
To the cold unwelcome sea
This never-ending conflict
Fought along the Far East Front
By Britain and her Allies
A tenacious, hostile hunt
Memories invade us
Of theworries and the pain
Of days and days of nothing
Just relentless stress and strain
Now the whole world joins rejoicing
For the end of this long war
Happy, smiling people released
From the tensions of before
America, Ceylon and Kenya
Wherever our soldiers serve
Join together with all nations
Celebrating Peace without reserve
